Early wireless valve radio tuner unit in oak cabinet. The twin calibrated dials controlled variable capacitors used to tune different radio frequencies, allowing the operator to select broadcast stations. Instruments of this type were used with separate valve amplifiers, detectors, and headphones in early radio receiving sets. Typical domestic or experimental wireless equipment from the early broadcasting era. Early 20th century, c.1920s.
