It is not just a desk weather instrument — it’s a Gluck Co Ltd (London) field or aircraft instrument. RAF, meteorological offices, research expeditions, and survey teams would have used this style of portable barograph.

Portable types of barograph were used to measure pressure during flights, track altitude and document weather conditions during expeditions. 

A barograph uses an aneroid barometer mechanism to move a pen over a rotating paper  covered drum creating a graph (barogram) of air pressure changes. 1935-1955.
