Large, durable wicker skip baskets were essential for managing materials in textile factories. They were used for storage, transporting bobbins, shuttles, and fabric. These are from Black Dyke Mill in Bradford; founded in 1819 and built as a massive, self-contained worsted and mohair mill by 1835. These baskets have seen lots of action, heard lots of stories and seen some sights! 1830s to 1980s. How amazing that wicker was used for industrial purposes over such a long time frame.
